Sunday, Jan. 10, will be the 83rd birthday of computer pioneer and Turing Award winner Donald Knuth.
Knuth has been called the "father of the analysis of algorithms." He authored a widely used textbook series, The Art of Computer Programming, which has appeared as several volumes from 1968-2019 (with more planned).
He was the 1974 recipient of the A.M. Turing Award.
Knuth has taught at Stanford University since 1969, where he remains Professor Emeritus.
